Physical Therapy Methods
We start by listening: how did this begin, what have you noticed and what would you love to get back to? Dr. Emily Warren, DPT, Cert. MDT, brings movement assessment and an interest in the pain system to that conversation. Your history, examination and response to practice help us choose which of the methods below belongs in your plan.

DPT, Cert. MDT
Your story comes first with Dr. Emily
Emily’s early work in neurological rehabilitation shaped her interest in movement, pain and what people want to get back to.
Emily wants to hear your questions, what you have already tried and what you most want back. Your examination and diagnosis help guide care, alongside your response to movement. You practice a manageable starting plan together and review how it works in your daily life.

McKenzie Method (MDT) — our foundation
For back pain, neck pain or sciatica, we test selected movements and positions, check what changes and choose your starting exercises from those findings. You practice with Dr. Emily, learning the technique, amount and response to watch for. We then build strength and activity around what you want to do again. Our McKenzie Method guide explains the research and assessment process.
You should understand why we chose an exercise, how to practice it and what response to watch for. We keep the starting plan manageable and check it against something that matters in your day. Tell us what changes between visits; your observations help shape the next step.
Strength training for bone health
Dr. Emily is BoneFit trained and uses progressive strength, balance and appropriate weight-bearing exercise to help people with low bone density become more confident and capable. LIFTMOR research informs discussion of supervised loading; your starting point and progression are individualized. Choose individual osteoporosis PT or ask about Strong Bones Strength Class.
Dry Needling
Dry needling can help ease selected muscle-related pain. If it makes a useful task more comfortable, we build on that change with movement practice and strength. We discuss why we are considering it, the alternatives and what response would make it worth continuing. Learn more about dry needling in Salt Lake City.
Pain education: understand your symptoms and your next step
Your pain deserves an explanation you can use. We make time for questions about a worrying scan, a flare-up or a movement you have started avoiding. Dr. Emily connects the findings with a practical step you can try with support, then build on as your confidence and ability grow.
Manual Therapy and Progressive Movement
Hands-on treatment may help make movement more comfortable. We connect that work with exercises and everyday activities so you can build on the benefit between appointments. The goal is to help you move with greater confidence and return to what you enjoy.
