Physical Therapy Methods

Every treatment plan at Mindful Movement PT starts with a mechanical assessment — finding the specific movements and loads your body responds to — and then matches the method to the finding, not the other way around. Dr. Emily Warren, PT, DPT is a credentialed McKenzie therapist and BoneFit-trained provider with 14+ years of experience. The methods below are the tools; the assessment decides which ones your case actually needs.

Dry needling physical therapy Salt Lake City Utah by Dr. Emily Warren

McKenzie Method (MDT) — our foundation

A structured, evidence-based assessment that classifies your back, neck, or sciatic pain by how it responds to repeated movement — then turns that finding into a specific self-treatment plan. It is the backbone of how we treat back pain, neck pain, and sciatica. Learn more: the McKenzie Method in Utah.

LIFTMOR-Based Bone Building (BoneFit™)

Progressive, supervised strength and impact training for osteoporosis and low bone density, modeled on the LIFTMOR research protocol — the approach with the strongest evidence for building bone safely. Available one-on-one or in small-group Bone Builder classes. Learn more: osteoporosis physical therapy and the LIFTMOR protocol.

Dry Needling

A targeted adjunct for stubborn muscle and trigger-point pain — back and sciatic pain, pelvic floor tension, neck and jaw. We use it to open a window for movement to do the lasting work, not as a standalone fix. Learn more: dry needling in Salt Lake City.

Manual Therapy & Yoga-Informed Movement

Hands-on joint mobilization and soft-tissue work where the assessment indicates it, plus graded, yoga-informed movement retraining so improvements hold up in real life.
