Work directly with Dr. Emily, a McKenzie-certified Doctor of Physical Therapy who is BoneFit trained.

Coaching focuses on education and wellness. We confirm whether coaching or clinical care fits your needs before you book.

Could virtual bone-health coaching help someone like me?

It may be a useful fit if you:

  • Have been told you have osteopenia or osteoporosis and want to understand how exercise fits into your broader bone-health plan.
  • Have guidance from your healthcare team about appropriate activity, but need help turning it into a routine.
  • Want to learn strength-training technique or feel less uncertain about starting.
  • Already exercise and want a clearer way to think about progression.
  • Live far away, travel often or find it difficult to attend a local class consistently.
  • Want to work toward everyday goals such as lifting groceries, gardening, stairs or getting back to hiking.

You do not need lifting experience or a ready-made plan. A free 15-minute consultation gives us a place to begin.

When would individual clinical care be a better first step?

A recent fracture, unexplained pain, significant unsteadiness or uncertain restrictions calls for clinical assessment first. Clinical virtual PT may be available when suitable for your needs and location; we confirm this before booking.

If you are local, our one-on-one osteoporosis physical therapy in Holladay provides an in-person pathway. No referral is needed for our in-person PT.

What does working together online look like?

  1. We begin with what matters to you. Tell us your goals, questions and any existing activity guidance.
  2. We make the advice understandable. We connect strength, balance and activity principles to your goal.
  3. We look at your practice together. When appropriate, practice a familiar movement on camera. We can discuss the setup, what you notice and an adjustment to try, then watch the movement again. The feedback connects to your own practice and equipment.
  4. We agree on a realistic next step. Choose a movement skill, routine or goal to put into practice.
  5. We discuss how to review progress. Discuss what to track and whether follow-up would help.

Support as you put the plan into practice

You should leave understanding what to work on, why it matters and how it fits your week. Between visits, your exercise program and video demonstrations give you a reference, and messaging gives you a way to ask questions.

For example, we might practise a familiar sit-to-stand using the chair you have at home, discuss the setup and choose the version that fits your starting point. You can return to the video demonstration in your program between calls, then review the movement and progression together at follow-up. This is an illustration of the coaching process, rather than a routine assigned to everyone.

What equipment do I need?

Use a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, microphone and reliable internet. Set it on a stable surface in a well-lit space with room for comfortable movement.

You do not need to buy equipment first. Tell us what you have: a sturdy chair, bands, dumbbells, gym access or simply some space. We can discuss what would help.

How do BoneFit and LIFTMOR inform our approach?

Dr. Emily is BoneFit trained. BoneFit is an evidence-informed professional exercise-training program for working with people with osteoporosis. Read the official BoneFit overview.

The LIFTMOR trial provides encouraging evidence for supervised progressive loading: screened postmenopausal women in its resistance-and-impact program improved average lumbar-spine bone density by 2.9% over eight months, while the low-intensity home-exercise group declined by 1.2%. Strength and physical function improved too.

The research helps explain why appropriate challenge and progression matter. Coaching does not reproduce the supervised trial or make its heavy exercises suitable for everyone at home. Our BoneFit and LIFTMOR guide explains the difference between professional training and a research protocol.

Choose the kind of support you want

Bone-health support at Mindful Movement
Option What it offers When to explore it
Virtual coaching Live, one-on-one video coaching with Dr. Emily, an exercise program with video demonstrations, and access to messaging between visits. You want personal guidance from anywhere and do not need the call to provide medical diagnosis or injury treatment.
Individual physical therapy Clinical assessment and rehabilitation, with in-person care in Holladay. You have symptoms, a fracture-recovery question or movement difficulties that need individual clinical care.
Bone Builder classes Small-group coached strength training with attention to technique, modifications and progression. You are able to attend Holladay classes and a group setting fits your current needs.
Bone Builder app A separate, self-guided at-home exercise resource. You want a structured resource to use independently. The app does not provide the live one-on-one observation of a coaching appointment.

Bone Builder classes meet Tuesday and Thursday, noon–1 p.m., in Holladay. With the monthly membership, you can attend as many of those classes as you like, on either day or both. An individual assessment is not always required to join. The Bone Builder app is a separate offering. We can help you understand which option fits your goals before you commit.

The kind of guidance we bring to bone-health exercise

In this class video, Dr. Emily explains why she keeps groups small: she can watch movement, help with modifications and progress exercises when participants are ready. She describes building strength and confidence with meaningful challenge and thoughtful progression. It shows the in-person class approach; your online appointment is a separate one-on-one service. Watch on YouTube.

You want guidance for bone-health exercise wherever you are.

In virtual coaching, we help you understand movement choices and build a routine around your goals and available equipment. We will talk through whether that format fits what you need.

How will we know you are making progress?

We connect progress to your goals: more consistent practice, clearer technique, confidence with equipment or an everyday task becoming easier.

Strength and confidence do not by themselves prove a bone-density increase. Your medical team manages DEXA monitoring, fracture-risk assessment and medication decisions; coaching supports the exercise part of that wider plan.

Prepare for a useful first conversation

  • Write down one or two things you want to do more confidently.
  • Note the exercise and equipment you currently use.
  • Have your DEXA report and relevant activity guidance available for your appointment, if you have them.
  • Share your country and time zone so we can coordinate scheduling.
  • Confirm the appointment type, length and connection instructions before booking.

Leave detailed medical information out of the website contact form. We can explain how to share it appropriately if needed.

Questions about virtual bone-health coaching

Can I join from outside Utah or outside the United States?

Yes. Share your country, time zone and goals so we can discuss scheduling. Clinical PT is separate and depends on your location and care needs.

Will I work directly with Dr. Emily?

Yes. This is dedicated one-on-one coaching with Dr. Emily Warren, DPT, Cert. MDT, who is BoneFit trained. We make time for your questions and help you understand the next step.

Can I start if I have never lifted weights?

Yes. We discuss your starting point and whether coaching, individual clinical care or supervised classes would help most.

Can coaching treat pain or help me recover from a fracture?

Coaching provides education and wellness support. Pain assessment and fracture rehabilitation need clinical care. We discuss that pathway first if those are your main concerns.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to explore coaching or begin our in-person PT. Bring any fracture-related activity guidance into the conversation.

What support do I have between coaching visits?

You receive an exercise program with video demonstrations and access to messaging between visits. Use your program as a reference while you practice, and bring up questions about the plan. At follow-up, we can review your practice and discuss the next progression.

Is this the same as the Bone Builder app or classes?

No. Coaching is a live one-on-one appointment. The app is self-guided; classes provide supervised small-group training in Holladay.

Will coaching replace my osteoporosis medication?

No. Exercise complements medical bone-health care. Medication decisions remain with your prescribing clinician.

What happens in the free 15-minute consultation?

We hear your goals, answer questions and discuss which service may fit. It is an introductory conversation, separate from a full coaching or PT appointment.
